Why will SAS not install with my zero account?

Up to Table of Contents

You are using your admin (zero) account to install SAS, but the message "This user account does not have sufficient rights to install SAS software" appears.

Your zero account must be in the local Administrators group of your machine.  SAS also wants your zero account to appear by itself in the Administrators group -- being part of a group within the Administrators group will not work.  To view the Administrator group on your computer:

  1. Right-click on My Computer and choose Manage
  2. Click on Local Users and Groups
  3. Click on Groups
  4. Double-click Administrators
  5. Add your zero account directly to the Administrators folder, even if there is a general group that you're part of (such as Mzhang_Admins) already there.
